Default 10 lbs of LS2 in a 5 lb BMW - 56k forget it

More pics than you really want.

I don't post much here, but I know some people are interested in this swap.

Actually it fits with room to spare

Went in without a hitch, although I broke the oil pressure sender, which I have done very time I have ever put a Chevy motor into anything - if I was smart I would install that after the motor is in

Unfortunately the motor will have to come out to install the exhaust manifolds but this way the wiring and other plumbing will be easier to do and it is a good place to store the motor and transmission.

Open wide

Fits

Driver's side clearance

Passenger's side clearance

Back to normal ride height

Hood closes

Throw out bearing

LS2 Flywheel (yes I removed the inspection sticker)

LS7 Clutch disk and Pressure Plate

M Coupe Radiator and Ford Taurus 3.8 Fan - the look like they were made to go together

I think I could fit 2 radiators in there

Lots of space

Nice anymore details about the mounting? You make it or get it from a shop? Also will the car have AC and PS? After I'm done with the RX7 I'm looking to make something a little tame I was thinking about a BMW swap or I would like a Typhoon haha but dont we all.

Looks great! But it also looks like an LS1 from the TB and timing chain cover.

402 forged LS2 block, LS1 electronics. I got the mounts from www.nash8503.com

AC and power steering (the PS is a must since I am using a hydro boost brake booster)

This car will be have a lot more power than either of my RX-7 swaps, plus it is roomier and much nicer

I know - everyone and their brother could start with a block of iron ore and build an entire car in about a day in their back yard for $5 Where is ChrisV when you need him?

That price is for every nut, bolt, wire, relay, tie wrap and everything else needed for the swap, including custom made stainless headers. I am using a lot of his parts, but not everything.

Looks nice! Once I finish getting the Vette nice and modded, I am going to look for an M3 to tear apart.

Nice progress. Have you hit any unusual roadblocks?

The only road block so far was my decision to rebuild the entire suspension front to back.

The headers are custom made. They should be here later this week.

Out of curiosity, why did you mount the engine so far above the crossmember and at an angle? On my LS1 E36 swap I have the oil pan practically sitting on the crossmember.. I ground down some of the rack support brackets to get the engine even lower.

Car looks nice!! You're gonna have a blast.. I've just got a stock LS1 in mine and it flies!!

Because I like it that way Actually it is about 1/8" off of the steering rack braces and I would not feel comfortable griding those down. The trade-off to get another 1/4" - 3/8" inch lower is not worth it to me.
