Default Speed bleeders on clutch.. do they always leak?

I seem to have trouble with speed bleeders leaking on me. Have two different ones a crome one and brass one and they both leak. Was using them on remote clutch line that got off steve d.
I finally put stock type bleeder from my talon on there as the speed bleeders would leak and pedal would go to the floor. So what is the deal. Not sure brands but think the brass one is russel? not sure about the crome one? You simply tighten them or what..they seem simple enough.

Is there a trick to using them. I turn my bleeder tight but fluid keeps coming out.
