i was coming home on the highway from a small cruise with some friends and i see a sentra with heavily tinted windows and a loud shitty exhaust so i thought id have to play with it. I pull up to him give it a little gas and he does the same. Then i hear him starting to three honk so i put in down only into 4th because to me i thought i was going to blow him away so no need to put any extra strain on the car. the third honk rings and i mash it in 4th pull ahead 1/2 a car and then i hear the loudest spool ive heard in a long time. he then preceded to walk me slowing coming up and then gettin me by half a car at around 115 i let off because he had me. Although for the sound of turbo i heard he should have shot by me 3 times as fast. Sometimes cockyness can get the best of you and im 85% sure i would have beat him if i had only thrown it down to third. But hey win some loose some it was cool to see a sentra that would run with a ls1 :)

Never even give them a chance, cause you never know. 3rd would have definitely given you a much better chance. Good death though, if you could hear that turbo through your own exhaust it had to be pretty big. Maybe you can run into him again and take him.

I made the same mistake as you only it was a honda civic and he had a turbo the outcome was slightly diffrent he had me by a bumper if that and wouldn't play again. Plus we did a 40 roll which happened to be right in his power band he wouldn't go any slower either. But me being the cocky one to begin with is what caused my downfall of losing to a civic.

I made the same mistake against a mercedes once. It wasn't until he passed me (pre-D1SC days) that I realized it was an AMG. I'll never make that mistake again. Now if I'm gonna race it's all out or not at all.

LMAO! Good story! OWNED by cockyness!.... Lol... But it wasn't that bad. Without sounding cocky myself, you can only expect so much from a Sentra, or any other import that's not an STI or EVO. You just happened to run into the wrong one at the wrong time.
But IMO, this is a perfect example of why no matter how fast your car is, you should never take another car lightly.

I agree. Race all out against the unknown. Never know if you're gonna get that second chance. I have to remind myself to run the nitrous instead of cheaping out against a car I don't know. Oh, I drive one of those POS Sentras, traps 117 at 8000ft. DA.

Lol, nice run. Yeah I agree with most. I usually go all out or nothing at all. You never know what your getting into. My buddy used to have a 94 Sentra I think it was (older boxy ones) and had an SR20 in it, he was making like 270whp on low boost, in a car that light that thing would fly. Anyways, yeah if you had dropped it down another gear, you probably would have taken him.

Ya, I've learned through my friends' experiences not to under-estimate any other car on the road. There are some that will surprise you.

if anything comes next to me and wants to race and im in the mood , I don't hold out on them full throttle the whole time. You never know what the car next to you has under the hood

Like others have said if you're gonna race (especially if it's random and you don't know the car) go all out. I did that once against a honda. from 50 to 100 he put 3 cars on me. I was in my cobalt ss though and stayed was a couple of gears higher than I should have been.
