Another L92 Cam Thread
Have an 05 GTO A4 that is getting the L92/L76 swap with all of the "other" bolt ons and a 3500 stall. Heads are being milled to retain the stock compression ratio. The car is my DD and will retain the stock LS2 bottom end.
Does anyone (including sponsors) have any input on what the biggest, most aggressive cam I can get away with is? I don't know what the exact specs are for the one the shop is may use but it is not over .600 lift and has made 480 rwhp in an M6. Car is at the shop now but this cam is NOT set in stone and another cam or package can be purchased.

Noone has any thoughts on what cam to go with?
Seems like cam selection for the L92 is part of a secret squirrel society LOL.
I just read through 30 pages of posts regarding L92's and most of what I have read has been done on a 402+block.
Does noone have results on an LS2 bottom?

The 402s have the same bore as yours just a different stroke. I think the cam choices should fall in line with the strokers. I have been doing some research on the subject myself. They seem to have a narrow range as far as cams go. LG, Livernois, and a fewer other sponsors have done some homework with camming L92 heads.

Contact Patrick G. He can recommend a cam for you. He has a form on his site that you fill out with all the info.
He charges for the service, but Thunder Racing will credit you for the same amount if you order the cam from them.
I got one for my 402/L92 from Patrick, but I just started it today so I don't have any numbers. It idles at 950 and seems to pull good.

LG Motorsports got 495 @the wheels in their 6.0L LS2/L92 motor in the Forza C6. I think that was with ported heads though.
Stutterman85, what's done to your L92 heads?

Still hoping to have mine done on Saturday. Don't know now though because one of the sponsors on here (who will remain nameless for now-but will be blasted if they don't make it right) didn't ship the heads on Thurs like they said they were going to-they didn't go out until yesterday.
Call me optimistic but we are looking for a BARE MINIMUM of 467rwhp but are thinking (hoping) more like 475-480 which I think would be great #'s for an A4 GTO.

if you can get that out of an A4 you will have a serious beast. thinking about a carb intake and elbow now....supposedly the L76 intake is a restriction as these heads need the upper RPM on smaller motors to really come alive. good luck to you, i am pretty pleased with mine so far.

The heads on the LG combo were not stock. This was his first dyno try with the combo, it later yeilded
Here is a quote from louis from his L92 dyno post:
"Stock LS2 shortblock, mildly touched up L92s, Untouched L76, G6x92-3 L92 specific cam kit and the LG Pro Longtube headers for an astounding 484/455 SAE rwhp on a dynojet!"
Eventually they got 495 out of the combo. Here a link to the thread:

Later on in the thread they got 490/457 out of the combo , but the final #'s for that combo were 580 hp/540tq at the flywheel ( 495 rear wheel hp/459 rear wheel tq) by the time the car went to the Forza Motorsports Showdown. That's going by the ad for the Forza C6 on ebay.
