Drove my LQ4 powered 81Z this weekend.
I slapped a two day permit on the 81 this weekend and played a bit. The 6.0 is still fresh so I didn't push it too hard. A lot of guys say that you can run a fresh engine really hard right away but when it comes to my money, sweat, and time, I'll take it easy for a bit.
The LQ4 pulls VERY strong and with only going full primary, I can break the tires loose in 2nd at 35mph with half throttle (4.10s,3k stall, and 245/60/15s) First gear is totally useless. I'm running 245/60/15s out back and they have zero chance of traction. I just built a burn out machine LOL.
I can't wait for some sticky tires and a few more miles to see what this will do. The old motor had around 400 horse, ran high 12s, this 6.0 feels like a hundred horse more and waaay more torque.
I love these LSx engines.

Thanks. The hood guage is on there to check fuel pressure when it was a drag car. It'll come off when I put all new autometers in the dash.
I just rebuilt the LQ4 with milled heads, crane cam and dual springs, new pistons and arp bottom end, rollmaster billet chain, tsp oil pump, etc.

I like it. Looks really nice. Have you ever thought about using a distributer instead of the individual coil packs? I think it would clean up the engine bay alot and then you could run a nicer set of valve covers. PM me for details, and no I am not talking about the GM setup that sticks a foot off the front of the engine. That is one sweet car you have though. I had a white one for a few months But I sold it due to lack of money at the time to fix it up.

Minitub? 2nd gens can fit 315s on with little work. That'll be enough tire for me.
