Question Ls6

I'm thinking about putting a LS6 in my 59 Chevy truck and was wondering if this is a good choice or should I save for an LS2? What about the LS 364/440 carbed motor? My goal is to have around 400 HP at rear wheel. Which choice would be the most economical. Any suggestions are greatly apreciated.

If you don't mind the extra weight you could get a LQ4 (iron 6.0L, truck engine) for a lot less money. Put L92 heads/L76 intake on there, maybe a cam. There are a ton of choices, really just depends on what you want/like/can afford. Use the search button, read about other people's choices and reasoning for their swap then decide what you want.

All of them would be great... shouldn't be a problem with any of them getting to 400hp..

The LS 364/440 would most likely be the econo choice in that the Fuel system would be cheaper, simpler electrical and you get the 440 out of the box. You can save some if you find some Pull outs from a GTO, Vette or F-Body (2001-2002). Would have to update your electrical and fuel systems for the LS6 and LS2 EFI engines, which would add to the cost.

A late model LS2 out of a Z06 would get you the 400 also as with a LS6 with a CAM and some tuning can get you there also.

either way.. .your going to be glad you did any of them....! IMO... the EFI is sweet, that would be my suggestion and choice.
