Default BS3...crank reference input

I'm trying to do this and I think they have me probing the wrong wires. The ECM pinout doesn't match the ECM. I was just wondering if anyone else had any insight into this...tips. I called BS, but their is no answer and the mailbox is full.

thanks
scott

It doesnt work the way they describe it, I did mine with a timing light and an indexed balancer. I tried every way to do it like in the instructions but I could never get it to work. I ended up with 348.5 on the reference FWIW.

That's good and bad..lol. I was thinking I was a real jackass.

Did you just play with numbers in the crank reference until your timing lined up with your pointer? I have an ATI, so it has degrees.

Pretty much thats about it, I think most guys end up in the 346-350 degree range from what I gather. I made a pointer out of sheet aluminum, use the front two pan bolts to hold it on and time it from the bottom. I had the heads off when I did the BS3 so finding exact TDC wasnt a problem.
