I'll be installing mine shortly, I'll let you know. You'll need the cooler stat for it to do any good, though. Or you'll be cooling the radiator but not the engine.

had a 160 stat and an SLP switch in my LT1 for 2 yrs, and i have it in my LS1 for almost 4 yrs now...works great.

low speed seems to keep the temp where it is...high speed draws it right down to the minimum operating temp...which with my setups seems to hover around 170deg in the florida heat.

just don't forget to turn it off....otherwise...dead battery quick!

Had mine for years. Works great for cooling the car down at the track.

Would'nt just having it tuned to have the fans come on earlier be easier?

yeah, do that too for street use but they would run non-stop in Florida trying to keep it really cool.
I like to be able to pop the hood and run the fans in staging with the engine off at the track and let the computer handle it on the street.

as cool as the thermostat will allow it. like i said, with my 160 i typically see an actual operating temp of 170 in florida heat.

as for switch or tune......a tune is several hundred bucks....a fan switch is what $50. that was my reason.

I have zero issues with heat. Even when running hard in 90+* temps or bumper to bumper traffic. Was just at the track, no heat issues there either.

I like running fans between passes in the staging lanes too, but be careful when running both fans with car off, it will run battery down. Last year I had to ask a mustang for a jump before I raced him. Junked that stock delco battery, have optima red top now.

I just ran last week (cool temps though) and never had any issues with heat. Oh yeah almost forgot the 2 hr wait in between runs. I'll have to post up and let you know how my car does with some back to back runs under her belt. Hopefully it won't be so busy next time.
