I always leave the top down on my vert when showing unless the show requires tops to be up for judging purposes.

Depends on the judging rules. Find out before-hand.
It is often required to leave it up during judging.
If it's an informal show-n-shine, it may be better to put it down & attach the cover.

Last car show I went to (show and shine) most displayed with top down. Few left the top up, not many. I leave my T-tops in. However there was a Mustang that displayed with the top halfway up, halfway down. Pretty interesting. I have a picture but can't really tell.

As others have said, check on the judging. If it's not required to be up put it down... sooooo much nicer

Up, unless you want some kick to throw a milkshake into your car.

Dude... it's at a carshow. That's not really an issue, at least not at any show I've ever been to.

Besides, you know he HAS to have his windows down... Do you think the top up is really going to stop somebody??
