Default Now I have a garage...

Now that I have a garage for my car, I need to detail it. I've noticed that I have quite a bit of fine scratches and swirls. The car is black. Have I been washing this car improperly? My method is water, meguairs gold class and microfiber sponge, then I dry it with a chamois.

There could be a number of things causing swirls. But, you have to note that black shows the most swirls compared to any color car.

Are you using a quality microfiber sponge? Do you use two buckets? If you dip a dirty sponge back in the same bucket you are washing your car with you're just whiping that dirt right back on your car. It's a good idea to use two buckets and dip the dirty sponge in the bucket with just water before dipping it in the one with your soap. Chamois isn't necessarily best method of drying as there may be small particles creating fine scratches in your paint. The best method of drying is no towel. A 5hp blower does the trick
