More information would help get you an answer

What is the 72 sending unit out of, Car model, etc, what is the ohm range?, check it with a digital meter.

What 04 cluster is this out of ?

The 72 is a chevy blazer tank and the 04 is a suburban cluster.

Thanks

I don't think so. I know the 72 sender range is 0-90 ohm, I think the newer GM vehicles use ?-240 ohms.

Your sender will not work with the 04 cluster. You will need to replace the sender in the tank with the correct sender. Call Rock Valley or Ricks Hot Rods and I am sure they know which sender part number you want. Senders only cost about $45, so it is a minor thing.

so you think I can get a newer sending unit for my 72 Blazer tank?

I was thinking I might have to change out my gas tank to a 99 Camaro tank.

What are you going to do for a fuel pump? Why not just use the fuel pump/sending unit assembly out of a 99-02 camaro? It should be the correct ohm range and then you won`t have to worry about getting a baffeled tank since it is designed for a tank without baffels. Heres a page on it.

The truck sending units for the LSx trucks may also be set up with the venturi system so they don`t need baffeled tanks but I don`t know for sure.
