Yes and no. You would have to change quit a few tables to get it "tuned out". There are several ways to skin this cat.

With the ect sensor unplugged the pcm is probably reading coolant temp as -32F or whatever, which means it will stay in open loop because it never reaches the closed loop enable temp.

the third leg of the sensor just goes to your gauge cluster temp. the other one goes to ground and the other goes to the Computer.

WHY dont you just go to Napa and pick up one for a 1998 camaro, they should have them in stock.

You know, your fans wont turn on without that sensor. Just wait a few days, get one at the dealer, then you can race all you want. It isnt worth blowing up an engine for a night of not waiting.

I am really suprised that no one has one in stock!

The 98 sensor is not common. I tried to get one once and it took 3 days.

Sorry that I didn't get the PMs until just now. As I said, the ECT is referenced by alot of tables. I'm not sure that by dropping the CL entry point you will get the car to run properly. I had suggested to him that as a quick fix, try to determine how many ohms resistance it will take to get it to read in the 190-200 temp range. This would simulate operating temp for a quick TEMPORARY fix. The other thing that you could do is put in the 99+ sensor and wire it to the plug. Your gage wont read but atleast the PCM would know what temperature the car is at.
