Cam retaing plate Put new cam in putting the retaining plate back on torqueing the bolts to 18lbft and the top one never tightened. pulled it out and with the bolt came the threads. put an end to my so far successful night. should I heli coil or drill and tap? Never done a heli coil and don't know much about it. any help is appreciated.

what if he got a bolt and jsut loc tited the **** out of it if hes got enough threads to hold it? the bottom one of mine stripped a bit but i still put it in, it was only like the bottom 2 threads, im thinking about just putting some loc-tite on that 1 bolt to make sure it doesnt move but I dont think it will anyhow

You will completely drill the old threads out, and the new hole will be larger by a fair amount when compared to the original one. Then, you'll tap it, screw the heli coil in, and you'll now have the correct sized threaded hole inside the heli coil.
A heli coil is basically a tubular piece of steel thats threaded externally as well as internally. The external threads will match that of the tap that comes in the kit, and the internal ones you must match to your original bolt, or a new bolt that you wish to use.

You have to heli coil this bolt! do not try loctite! These motors have an issue with the cam retaining plate threads stripping out. If you don't fix this correctly you will regret it later.

He already posted that he fixed it with a heli-coil....
