im currently running a torquer 2 on a 112+0 installed dot to dot. made pathetic (imo) numbers in sig. most notably the torque number. im about to install tfs 215's milled to 60 cc w/ a .045 cometic. should i leave the cam the way it is or go ahead and advance it 2-4 degrees and get that dcr up a little bit more? explain why.....

First off, youre numbers are quite good for stock heads.
Secondly, you really have to see how it performs once the heads are on. The added compression will really wake the car up. That being said, my cam with +2 degrees advance peaks very high at 6500+. Even a little too high for my tastes. The HP drops less than 5 HP off peak all the way to the 6800 red line. How high are you planning on spinning the motor?

I did not vote because I don't know and don't want to screw your numbers up in the vote...
Nevertheless, I have +4 degrees advance ground into that new cam I am getting....
It came that way used, but I want to see what it will do...I think I will have a very nice powerband with the cam!

this is my before dyno numbers. the pull before the final tweak-the curve is identical just got a few more up top.
i have arp rod bolts so im not worried about spinning it. right now i shift it at 6800 anyways. rev is set at 7 or 7100 i forget.
stock heads (right now) : 10.23/ 7.78 cr assumin 67 cc heads (i forgot stock cc's on 853's.)
tfs heads no advance : 11.48/ 8.54 cr
tfs heads 2* advance: 11.48/ 8.70 cr

I just put in a MS4 @111 and I already got the Crane adj. doubler roller set on it, but like you I could only pickup .35 DCR by advanceing it 4 degrees. I started to do it but the TV2 cam I took out wasn't advanced and it rocked. So I figured this one would to,it does. If you got the SCR up higher than stock that TV2 is going to scream.I say leave alone and if you don't like it you can always go back and advance it later. But a TV2 already has the flat torque curve. With heads your gonna pick it up all the way across the board. And this might be stupid thinking but if the cam is run straight up it has a higher powerband and wouldn't that take advantage of those higher flowing heads?

Standard SBC like to have the cam in 2 degrees advanced, but with the head flow numbers, combustion chamber design and fuel injection the LS1 style motors have don't need the advance as much.
I've built LS1 N/A motors with heads flowing in the 345cfm range on 427ci with 11/1 C/R. The cam was big 242-248 on 114 lsa; the motor put 550HP to the wheels with 515 Ft Lbs of Tq, in a 2006 C5.
Very broad torque and Hp curve, excellent drivability, great power, you would make a bit more peak power with the cam advanced but for a street driven car I would go straight up with the cam.
