What are the Firehawk problem areas?
Hey guys, looking to get a Firehawk. Just wanted to know what to look for? What are the problem areas that I should look it?
Also, I see that some have the "ribs" on the drivers and passenger seat, and some don't, what does that mean? If they don't have those "ribs", have the seats been changed out?
Any sites I should look at for more info?

They aren't going to have any different issues that any other 4th gen Fbody has.
Oh, so maybe the Firehawk sticker turns pink after years in the sun, but other than that...

Ribbed sides on the seats is the Lumbar Support option found on all Trans Am models, base Firebird & Formulas do not have the option or the ribs. A Firehawk can be a Formula or a Trans AM, not a Firebird.
Firehawks dont have any unusual problems to them, they are simply a hood, wheels, airbox, exhaust and a few minor suspension mods from SLP.
All Firebirds, Formulas, Trans AMs or Firehawks can have these common problems:
1. Poor electrical wiring to the passangers side window, causing that motor to slow down and eventually fail. AutoTrix is the fix.
2. Both drivers side & passangers side door panels can crack. The fix is a write up online someplace, that invloves removing the door panel, removing the staples mounting the window strip and reattaching with strip ties or screws so the panel has some give to it.
3. Lousy back seat speakers for Subs. My solution was to install a sub box in the rear hatch, drivers side area, and Remove those 2 factory speakers.
4. Battery Positive post tends to leak causing a mess. Fix is to replace the battery with an Optima.
5. Oil tends to get through the PCV valve, going into the intake and causing detonation. No real good fixes, but LS6 Valley Cover and/or catch cans help.
6. Sometimes the stock water pump leaks.
Stock Pistons are limited to 500rwhp. :-)
Stock cam is small. :-)
Did I miss anything?

93 and 94 Formula and T/A both I think it was only an option on. My Formy has pretty much all the options.

Do I need to prove it further with the asian or european market imports? I'm sure you KNOW those offer it just the same. I'm sure if it wasn't for the American market, they wouldn't have an Auto option.

So really, it's not surprising at all that a Poncho would make an Auto the standard equipment option. I couldn't even really understand the Solstice. One package said nothing about tranny, but the better package mentioned a 6spd. *shrug*

Look for flaking on the chrome Firehawk wheels. They were notorious for lousy chrome plating.

But what I think that needs to be said is, most of these with this problem are not on the wheels outside, rather the inside of the wheel not really exposed has much has the front shiney areas, correct?
BTW-the wheels are made by american racing, fyi.
