Default Bell housing bolts

I'm in the process of doing a header install and I realized that I'm missing 2 tranny bell housing bolts and another one was 1/2 way out.! WTF? I had a dealer do my ZO6 clutch install a couple years ago and I'd hate to think they could have neglected to put 2 of the bolts back in, but you never know. The third was half way out though, so maybe they worked their way out? I'm getting new bolts. Should I loctite them? I don't want them stuck in there for good either. Once the headers are in, I'm probably not going to be able to get to them this easily. Thanks

I would use some blue locktite, which is the medium strength. It will keep the bolts in place, but they will still be relatively easy to remove should the need arise.

Thanks for the replies. I checked the service manual and it says to torque them to 80 ft lbs. They probably weren't tight enough last time.

Ive never loctited my bolts, but they do be fairly tight. 80lbft sounds like a lot though.

I dont bother with the top right bolt on my car though ( not a vette )....PITA to have it there. Makes for easier removal/fitting with one less bolt...

I got some new GM bolts & I put a little blue loctite on 'em. I didn't torque them all the way to 80.
