17mpg.. 1/2 HW 1/2 City. Normal?
(2000 Z28 M6)
I was wondering how normal it is for my car to average 16mpg. So far I have 225 miles on a tank of gas, trip was reset last time I fueled. It's at 1/4 tank now. Maybe 3 gallons left.
1/2 city and 1/2 HW driving. I get into it every once in a while. Not rapped out, but maybe up to 4500k.
MODS: Full exh, LS6 intake, P+P'd TB, Lid w/ K&N, T55 Plugs (20k miles, need to be changed) and taylor wires... 18" wheels, the calculator says that based on my diameter it's only off .10 @ 60mph.

I've been getting 13.5mpg 100% city and my car is stock (besides, lid and some suspension mods which don't count towards this mileage discussion).
30% city/70% highway gets me 18mpg.
I don't abuse it either.

I think my problem is, I'm a stop light bandit.. I'm allways off first. bring it to 2500 when shifting at about 1/3 throttle.. Any more than that and my tires will go up in smoke.. (oily roads around here)
No traction.. I drive 20 miles a day.. 10 to work, 5 HW, 5 City... Same on the way home.. 5th gear on the hw doing 65-70.. depending on flow of traffic.. sometimes 80. 35 FIRM thru town, the cops IN town are EVERYWHERE. that's in 3rd at about 2krpm. Easier to control speed in third doign 35, 4th doing 45 and 5th at 65.

That's good for 1/2 city, 1/2 highway. I get around that. It's when you go on long trips, stay on the highway, and keep it under 80mph (~2k RPMs) that ls1 cars get good mileage. I average about 400/tank on the highway.
