Default ls1 clone ??

I have access to a 2000 5.3l that i'm thinking about putting into a 63 impala.
I would like to make a ls1 Clone out of it. What I mean is using a ls1 intake,
corvette fuel rail covers and either f body brackets or after market ones.
Here is some things I think I will have to get to accomplish this task.

Ls1 intake, fuel rails and injectors, fuel rail covers, aftermarket or fbody
acessories, and a camaro water pump. I am forgetting anything?

Will the corvette fuel covers fit on the ign. coil packs of the 5.3?
Will I need a new Crank shaft pulley?
When I get a wiring harness made do I tell them its for a ls1 or 5.3?
Will the 5.3's computer work?

Thanks for helping me out.

I don't think the vette FRCs will fit. The vortec engines had their own cover. Besides their intake it too tall.

The wiring harness should be the same from 4.8L to 5.7L

You may need a new crank pulley depending on if you use the truck accessories or the LS1 accessories. I think the truck ones stick out further. I am not sure.

Default thanks for the reply

Thanks,
But I am planning on switching the intake over to an ls1 intake.
So will the fuel rail covers work with the coil packs on the 5.3?

Thanks

If they have the pointed screws (you will know which ones because they poke the crap out of you) then yes they will fit.

Those pointed bolts/screws are what the FRCs snap onto.

The truck coils came in 2 styles - the round and the square type. The round ones sit up quite a bit higher on the valve covers, so the FRC's probably wont work with those. It might work for the square coils, though. Worst case, you'll just have to go pick up a set of LS1 coil packs and plug 'em in.

The computer will work, but the injector plugs will be different on the truck wiring harness. But, all you have to do is splice in the LS1-style injector plugs, which shouldn't be that big a deal since you are probably either going to hack up your wiring harness anyway (or get a new one made).

Oh yeah, and the truck pulley (and all the accessories) stick out about 1 1/2" farther than the others.

HTH!
