i purchased a 00 vert with 20's and the car was leaning A LOT towards the rear passenger tire. i didnt think big of it because i had already purchased billsteins and the prokit, installed them with 18" zo6 wheels, but the car is still leaning........what should i look for??

Well, this cars dont have chassis. They are unit-body construction.

This is a very common finding in f-bodies. Some lean more than others. Some say its because when you sit in it the car is leveled. Mine has a slight lean towards the same side. When someone sits in the drivers side in levels out.

a chassis is not the same thing as a frame.. they do have chassis.. read the title of this section "Chassis, suspension, appearance" and they do get bent out of whack.

Take the car to a good collision repair shop that has a frame rack, have them measure the car and check it over. If has been tweaked, they can sometimes fix it. but my experience is if a unibody car gets whacked pretty good, it'll never go back to 100%.. like trying to get the crease out of a folded sheet of paper.

When you say "A LOT" exactly how much? half inch is nothing.. more than an inch would be a concern

id say its about 1 to 1.5 of difference from rear driver to rear passenger.

i did check the carfax because the vehicle is salvage BUT not collision, the top was ripped and the sound system was stolen. thats why it was declared salvage.

dont worry too much about it. when i got my car, i had an inch lean like u. i found out that the previous owner of the car hit a curb and missed up the shocks and springs pretty bad. after i changed the shocks and springs, the lean was still there but not as bad. believe me i have done my research on this, cuz it was pissing the hell out of me. after a while, i realized that no matter what, these cars will always lean.

dammmit.....so their is really nothing that can be done about it....ive never really heard of the "lean" these cars had. so i guess its kind of like the knocking sound the engine makes too then. sucks.

i think alot of the lean is from the rear end being off center b/c of the factory stamped PHB. you can try to center the rear with a adjustable PHB and it will take the lean out.

Thanks for trying to correct me, but yes we have a chassis. Every car has a chassis. Just because we aren't full-framed doesn't mean we don't have a chassis.

If you want to straighten the chassis, instead of them just trying to get it close to perfect, install some 3 point subframe connectors. Have the shop straighten the chassis and weld them in place to hold it straight. This is a good excuse to get some sbc's.

Launching a car will tweak the chassis/frame/unibody. I had a 70 'Cuda that had a 1" torque twist in it.....

You know, I see this thread about three times a week.

"OMG The passenger side is 1" lower than the driver's side in the back!"

And every time, somebody (either myself, Mitch, Kevin, Sam, Z28Bryan, etc.) suggests the same thing:
Swap your rear springs from one side to the other.
If the driver's side now leans, it's the spring.
If not, you can reduce the difference by trying to twist the springs around and see if that helps.
Or you can try re-centering the rearend with a panhard bar.
Or your frame is tweaked.
Or (more likely than the frame) your spring perches aren't level because some Canadian was drunk when he put your rearend together.

i purchased some "spacers" from autozone, and it still leans a bit.

CHUPROKABRA.......i have never ever ever read about the lean these cars have. and ive been on the fbody scene for a while. as far as the suggestions u give....none of them seem to be affecting my car, well maybe for the last one...but this car is just a daily driver and i took the 18's off and eibach/bilsteins off to. put that on my Z and the parts from the Z i put them into the vert. so now, its been three sets of springs/shocks and all leaned. so maybe that canadian REALLY was drunk!!!
