Default Cam Gear Torque Prob HELP!!

Ok so i was torquing down the bolts on the cam gear and the bolt cracked in the cam but luckily i was able to back it out. I went out and bought some bolts from a hardware store. They are grade 8.8 bolts and when i went to torque them down again the first torqued and the second snapped off in the cam. Luckily it was out enough for me to unscrew it but now im afraid to torque them. I was wondering if it would be safe for me to put loc tite on them and hand tighten them with a 3/8 ratchet so i cant break another one.

So can i hand tighten them a nice amount with the loc tite or does it have to be 26ft/lbs?

26ft. lbs. w/red loctite. order arp bolt #134-1003, problem solved, unless you are not setting your trq. wrench properly, or it's out of whack?

The problem is grade 8.8 metric is equivelant to grade 5 sae. You should be using grade 10.9 or 12.9 for a metric torqued bolt.
