Replacing the TRex....Options?
I'd like to replace my Trex with something a bit smaller. Give me some alternatives that will improve driveability without sacrificing power.
My current setup is:
ARE Short block (Stock crank/Rods, ARP bolts, Forged Pistons)
PRC Stage 2.5 LS6 Heads with Double Springs
Cometic Head Gaskets .040
T-Rex cam
Hex Adjustable timming set
ASP Underdrive Pulley
Fast 78mm Ported intake
Ported Stock TB
QTP 1 3/4" Long Tub headers
Custom 3" H-Pipe into two Dynomax Ultra Flow mufflers Dumped
4.30 gears
6 speed

With the excellent exhaust flow, I'd recommend a single pattern cam and a little wider LSA. 236/236 .615/.607 112LSA +2. This will give you around the same DCR and power peak as the T-Rex, but with 12 degrees of overlap verses 25 degrees at .050".

I'd almost beleive it was tuner related...if I hadn't seen the magic he's worked on countless other vehicles.

Those look like good, REALISTIC numbers to me. Not the inflated internet numbers that a few shops put out, but realistic, accurate ones. Nothing wrong with that setup. Change cams like Patrick G said. Or get an adjustable timing chain and back off the cam's advance a little.
