Default USMC Jump School Incentive

Any Marines gotten Jump School as an incentive? I am trying to figure out if it is HQMC funded or Command funded. Anyone have any ideas?

i think it's HQMC funded. they'll usually come out with a maradmin or almar that states the seats, etc.. but if you're lucky enough to get it, MAKE SURE it's in writing. don't let them pull the "oh, you go after you reenlist, bla bla.. career planners are worse than recruiters.

I'm pretty certain the school itself HQ funded but the TAD will be command. Like mentioned above, it is possible to get it but make sure your name is slated on paper. The school is very limited and generally the only way to definately get a seat is to reenlist for it.

call your Comptroller office and double check with them. I'd be suprised if they said it was command funded, like Humm said, the TAD portion of the trip will be on your unit, but the school itself will be paid for by HQMC, its an army school in GA right???

Yes I'll be going after it as a re-enlistment incentive so we will see. Still got a bit to wait on it but just checking to see what everyone knew about it.

My unit is right next to the ABN training unit at benning. It's EXCEEDINGLY rare to see a marine out there doing stupid human tricks with the rest of the guys. It's generally 85% army, 10% af, 5% navy/marines. Most of the af/navy/marines are pilots or spec ops training. If you can get it, get it in writing.

make sure it's in the contract! i can not stress that enough. you should have the slated school date etc.. on there as well. if i remember correctly, the maradmin even says who's been slated for the school..

While it is cool, I never could understand why they offered that flippin' school to guys that don't have an m.o.s. that would actually use it. Maybe someone can fill me in?

well marines are trained to use a rifle despite having a "non combat" mos. Apparently even chaplains can go to jump school

haha...there's almost no such thing as a non-combat m.o.s. anymore. But I can damn sure bet I'd never have to jump out of a good bird, fast rope..maybe, but jump, no. Those admin bubbas with jump wing jewelry just don't make any sense to me.

Well I would hope I never have not jump out of our plane. 1. At 45000 ft it gets a little nippy. 2. O ya... we don't have parachutes.

A little late on the reply but...

I was with a command a while back that recieved (1) Jump School quota a year. I got it for winning several boards not re-enlisting, my first re-enlistment I was only approved for 2 years. Damn->

The quotas were sent out from HQMC based on funds, # of personnel, and billets held at the command.
