So he swapped out his 5 speed for a 6 speed? I dont think you can do that in the GT's. Not that it would make him faster anyway. Even with the slicks and gears, he *might* jump them on the line, but he would get reeled in. I say hes full of it.

Sounds like he has ...envy. 4.6L Stangs take alot to be equal to an F body (meaning Gears, full exhaust, intake ect). To put it this way - a V-6 3800 camaro can keep up with a 4.6 stang (pending year of course) stock for stock. Not dissing the stangs because the cobras can be fast, and some are (03/04). Just the GT's just are not up to par from the factory (pending what type of 4.6l it is) and are lacking quite a bit of horsepower to catch up to stock camaro, let alone on that has been modded. Need more info on his stang such as year and what type of 4.6l it is.

has this guy ever said anything along the lines of "i beat WS6's by like 3 cars but I beat Z28's by buslengths"..? If he has hes probably an idiot.

The 2v 4.6l GT's need a lot to keep up. The average bolt on blowers for those cars will get them to the point where they can keep up with a stock LS1 maybe edge one out. The newer 3V's do a lot better. Then with the 4V's each of those cars has its own little trick to be a threat. Mach 1's need some steep gears and they are soon a threat and Termi's... well they need a pulley lol.

I dont believe his stang beats Ls1s by 3 and 4 lengths. I wouldn't believe he would beat one period unless its an about blowed up Ls1. I've run many 4.6 Gts and pulled bus lengths on them from a dig and from a roll. If it was a mach 1 or a cobra (03-04) then i'd maybe believe him.

oh brother, if it's a 98 4.6 motor then he won't make it past 400 rwhp! you will have him with either a small shot of juice or a cam and tune upgrade against his blower! but as of right now see if he's not 3-4 behind you!

1998 GTs stock put down about 200rwhp, so figure blower and full bolt-ons he might be around 300rwhp or so... There is no way he is beating LSxs with the set-up he currently has... Maybe some PI heads and blower cams will get him up to 350rwhp, but that's some bucks.

98's are weak GT's. those are the 4.6's without the PI heads. the 99 and up cars got the PI heads which increased airflow. i've owned an 02 GT with a suspenion upgrades, 3.73's, nitto d/r's, PI converter auto, and a saleen twin screw blower along with full exhaust minus headers. i raced my friends T/A with the LS1 and he had full exhaust, programmer, and tires and i beat him with about 2 cars. it was all in the hole shot. now, when the blower was off and i had everything else, he would walk me. i suggest a cam and a tune and you will beat him. easily...lol.

And I've seen both cars beat by other cars. I don't see the guys point. Was he saying he beats ALL F's now and he is adding more power? Or was he saying his car is faster than all 5.0 Fords and all F-s?

Hopefully you remember his name and have his #? Beer normally makes most cars quicker in their owners mind. Everyone has an off day. I assume you let him know where you post? For us tell him, you'll be happy to race him or go watch him the next time he goes drag racing at a drag strip. That's a polite way of telling the guy many folks here think he is influenced by the fact his Ford is running while many Fords are Found Dead On Roads.

I can normally say that sort of stuff. I sell Chevrolet and when I go to a track Jake, my dog, goes with me. Besides, the last time I watched two quick street legal race cars qualify the Chevrolet went from A to B faster the B car was a Ford but trapped faster.

I saw a pewter ss with cam and lt headers race a 2003 cobra (supercharged) and the mustang got a slight jump and in the end when they let off around 120 they were even....

Mustang personal opinion, but they are nice cars I just don't like them

What's your point? All 03 cobra's are supercharged (so I don't know why you put it in parenthesis) An ss with lt headers and a cam probably had ~400rwhp. A stock 03-04 cobra has about 375rwhp. They also weigh a couple hundred pounds more. 03-04 cobra's are a very similar car (power wise) to a ls1. They both have their plus's and minus's. You spend 2000 on cam, lt headers, intake, and a tune to make 400rwhp (with a ls1). You can spend 2000 on intake, ported blower, pulley, tune, and make 500rwhp (with a 03-04 cobra).

To get anymore out of either of these cars you are going to have to drop a good bit of money.

a 98 beating ls1s? i dont think so i have a friend with full exhaust 4.10s and some other bolt ons and he gets the jump from the line but hit second and he starts comin on back passed by third and quite a few cars by 4th. The 99s r a slightly different story but if hes got a 98 hes a bullshitter
