Default **Ultra small metallic color stuff in my oil**

Today I noticed there is SUPER fine metal particles in the oil, almost like dust. The magnet wouldnt even touch them they were so small. Is this normal after a cam swap? Maybe just the cam breaking in? I dont know. And its only when I change the oil. Meaning when I check the dipstick the oil looks clean.

The car runs hard as hell, and there is no knocking at all.

if they are that small and still metallic colored, my instincts say aluminum...aluminum is one of the few metals that still retains a silvery metallic reflectance when reduced to very small shavings - even in a powdered form. i'm not sure if that narrows it down at all...there's a lot of aluminum in the ls1

A little bit could be attributed to the cam breaking in. It can also be a cam bearing dieing though.

Yea, you definetly need to keep a close eye on it. No matter what kind or form of metallic material you see in your oil, it's bad. I would say if it's possible to park it & freshen up the short block, that would be your best bet.

nope, just a LS2 chain.

I figured it had to be bad, and what really sucks is its my daily car, and dont have a place to pull engine or money to rebuild...man I have the best luck possible sometimes.

I did use belray moly lube w/solids. How long would it take to wash that out? I have gone about 200 miles and am about to change the oil again, it has been 100 miles since the last change, which was when I discovered it.

Its weird because you cant see the any metal in the oil, its just when the light hits the oil it lights up like a christmas tree. And nothing on the drain plug at all.

Could take a couple oil changes. If everything sounds fine, oil pressure isnt changing and theres no small chunks of metal I wouldn't worry about it.
