Only use 525 viscosity mineral oil on AC seals, or use an alternative?

Ok. The OEM shop manual for my 98 Trans Am specifically states not to use PAG oil on the o-rings/seals/threads when working on the AC system. It says to use 525 viscosity mineral oil. What did you use? I do not even know where to find the stuff locally. I checked two stores without success.

I even found an AC Delco tech bulletin that states the following.
I am at a little bit of a loss, but I think I will just use PAG oil for lube. I cannot find anyone with 525 viscosity mineral oil. I even called a shop to ask about this, and the guy said he would just use PAG oil.
Lubricate O-rings and threads only with mineral oil (525 viscosity).
Lubricating O-rings with PAG lubricant could corrode fittings.

Use any type of refrigeration oil and you will be fine. They say not to but in the last thirteen years 134 has been out oiling it with the pag has never caused me any issues at the shop. Some of our customers have had the cars and trucks long enough that I have replaced a replacement gm compressor that I originally installed and used pag for the fittings and all is well.

If I remember correctly, the tech CD that I bought said to use PAG oil on the o-rings. It doesn't seem to be one of those cheap manuals like the Haynes or Chilton manuals. It is like the Helms Manual that the shop uses.
Anyway I didn't want to travel into town so I used some engine rebuild grease on the o-rings and everything is fine.

Use on the o-rings and threads, not in the lines. Just use motor oil, any oil, as long as it doesn't eat up the o rings and you keep it out of the lines, and it doesn't corrode anything you'll be ok.
