Default Anyone ever try this?

I've been having the catalyst efficiency codes lately because of my gutted cats, so I finally came up with a solution that doesn't involve replacing anything. I covered the tips of the O2 sensors with high temp gasket maker. After I cleared the code it hasn't come back yet. Anyone know of some long term effects of this? It seems to work fine and only smelled like it was burning for about 30 seconds and then was fine. I figured why not because of the lean/rich cycle caused by the code and it seems to have worked.

Seems to work so far, 100 miles and 5 starts, no code. I don't really give a damn about the back O2s, they need replaced anyways so I figured I would try it.
