Default HU Install question

I finally got my new Pioneer deck and am in the process of wiring it up and installing it. I'm doing a physical test fit and noticed that there's a piece of plastic in the mounting area that's blocking the HU from going back all the way. It's got the little ring that the Monsoon pops into. Do I just cut that piece off?

I'm using a kit from Scosche (GM1516) which technically isn't fitting quite right (I'll need to dremel a couple of spots). But even with out the kit, the HU has to be at the VERY top of the opening to be able to clear over this piece of plastic. I don't know if you put it that high if you could get the front trim piece to fit properly around it.

I just installed a Pioneer HU. I had to remove that tab in order for my HU to slide all the way in. I used a mount from a company called HUmount. Very good craftsmanship and looks awesome.

The plastic piece does have to be removed. I just cut it off as I will never be returning to the Monoon EVER!!! LOL!!
