texas heat
anyone in dallas texas have a h/c ls1 that dosent overheat with a/c on? I have tried lowering fan setting , water wetter and no luck so far. When it gets 90 plus temps i cant even think about using the a/c . My temps are about 195 with no ac on the freeway and 200-220 in traffic? Whats the best thing to do ? Becool radiator? better fans? please help me out , i tried the search but havent had much luck. On a side note the plugs look good and car runs great but wont stay cool in the summer and cant use a/c at all in traffic.

Did you just do the head install? You need to let it idle with the radiator cap off for a LONG time sometimes to let all the air get out of the block. My car also runs about 178 in the heat with AC on. I have a 160 stat and set my fans according to the instructions on there, I can't remember what they were.

If you are using the stock gauge and your car is a 99+ the gauge is an idiot light with a needle. It only moves when the car is cold or hot. I had a 160 stat with fan temps turned down and it stayed right in the middle of the gauge. I put a 160 in my 98 vette and the gauge actually moves all around. Gm changed this because they thought the customers would think something was wrong seeing the gauge move around so much
Hook the car up to a scanner and you'll see its not overheating.

i am using efilive to monitor and the heads have been on the car for a year. had issues last year but it got worse this year and it not even that hot yet. Think my radiator may be bad? All last year in the summer time i used about three bottles of water wetter and distilled water till the winter hit. I just seems to hate the heat. Will a becool radiator help? better fans? I would like the car to run 180 or less at freeway speeds with the a/c on and no more than 195 in traffic. Is this possibe. I was wondering if bypassing the stock trans cooler and run only the supercooler would help. My trans temps hit 180-195 when the car goes over 210 on the coolant... Any thoughts or suggestions

Take all the water wetter out and use what you are sposed to. 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water. Completely flush the system, its not hard at all. Then start checking your fan speeds. The vette runs at around 185-190 on the highway in 90+ Are you using a underdrive pulley?

both fans working??? Check the 3 relays... they're under the hood, in the relay box.
Check them by putting the 'cooling fan' relay into the 'fog light' relay spot... then check to see if your fog lights turn on.... I had a bad relay in mine and that solved the problem....

used to have the same prob. but i got a 98 pcm . stock setting was high speed fans on at 236 degrees. it got up to 230 one time and i did the fan mod and a 160 stat. wired them to come on with ignition. now the temps never get over 180 degrees in dead stop traffic and 170 degrees on the highway!
