Default Is it worth trying to sell a wrecked 99 TA?

Hey guys, You all sound very informed on the ls1s/TA's so I thought I'd shoot you this question. I was driving my red ta a while back and accidently rear ended a van that pulled out in front of me....Houston for ya. Anyhow, my son talked me into buying it back from the insurance co (what moms will do for their boys) so that he could fix it for himself. Still runs great, although 120,000 miles on it, but it needs new hood, front end work on it. Right now, money is tight and we were thinking about selling it as is. It's been a great car and I believe me and another lady were only owners, so hasn't been 'dogged'. Was wondering what you 'experts' think? Any info is greatly appreciated. Already got me an 01 TA to replace it, but the 99 really handled better (?). Thanks for your help, Sonya

They're parted out and sold or sold as is all the time. If the unibody isn't twisted, then you shouldn't have any trouble selling it. Someone could be looking for a race car project.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have a body shop put it on the frame machine and have them get a printout verifying the frame. It wouldn't cost much and would help the sale.

Thank you so much; he's already determined frame is not bent. It was minor accident, but both air bags deployed with one cracking windshield, and those airbags as you probably know are $$$, but believe he already has them, as well as windshield fixed. Do you know of any place other than ebay to advertize that type of vehicle for sale? Or the best place?

IMO, ebay seems to be a good avenue for cars like that. I've seen some LS1 f-bodys command some $$ on there. Much more than I would ever pay, but then again I buy'em from the insurance auctions. Lately I would say there is a ton of "stupid money" on ebay, good for you, more money for the car. Good luck with what you chose to do with it.

Thanks for the tips guys.....he put it on ebay and a guy from OK is supposed to be coming down to look at it. Hate to see it go though.....it was 'my first' TA and the first car I really loved in years.

Alot of the parts could be sold here on LS1tech, or you could buy the parts to fix it from here as well and he could fix it. There are airbag modules on here I'm sure.

Maybe give Hawks a call...
