i complain about them still...sure its nice when they come down, but the price is still absurd. especially when you turn on the news and these huge, monopolistic oil companies are making record breaking profits. so i will continue to bitch b/c its ridiculous.

Also, this has been the trend for the past six years. The price of gas goes extremely high, then they drop it down a little and we call it cheap.

I consider myself young at 26 years old... but, I remember growing up when it was 79-80 cents per gallon. I remember getting my 3rd gen at 17 and filling up for 15-18 bucks. so like, less than 10 years and we're at triple the price... absurd! Minimum wage didn't go up that much (not that I get paid minimum wage, its just a comparison). oh well...

Wife and I spend about $600-800 a month and commute 800 miles a week without weekend travel. I'm happy to see them drop, and then of course Gainesville decides to pass another 5 cent gas tax starting next January!
And they wonder why I buy it in Ocala whenever I can.....

prices of gas over the last 6 years have not been like this...where they shoot sky high and drop really low. prob around katrina is when prices went to almost $3 a gallon, thats when the peaks and lows started. but before katrina gas was right around $2 a gallon.

My conspiracy theory ... I think in the next 10-20 years, we will slowly see the phase out of gasoline burning cars. We're already seeing more and more hybrids and its only a matter of time before the government starts putting such high restrictions on emmissions that it eventually wont be worth it to have a gas engine. Also, I think that oil companies are aware of this and are basically getting all they can while they can and the government doesn't stop it cause its just another incentive to get rid of your gas burning car.
haha...
