Default Tach Calibration

on my 98, when i was getting it tuned, i noticed that its idling right on 800 rpm's but my tach is reading a tad north of 1000 rpm. is there any way to calibrate the tach without removing the needles?

no ****? we used EFIlive to tune it but i mentioned it to him and he didnt say anything about calibrating it. i had him drop the idle to 700 just for ***** and giggles, even dropping it to 700 it still reads (on the tach) ~900rpm. ill get in touch with him again and see what can be done. thanks staringback.
