Default Is Shocks and Struts worth it?

I got a 98 T/A with 385rwhp 6speed car. Im fixing to do all suspension and im wondering if i need to get some shocks and struts at least the back for the 60' foot launch. Im for sure lowering 1" in the front when i do the suspension. I have a couple of friends that still has the stock shocks and they do fine. Do you have any suggestions on a good brand for the price?

Weird, I think all of these cars were like that. You'd think there'd have been a recall

Good shocks and new springs always help. What kind of driving are you looking to improve? Ride quality? Handling? Drag racing? I know you mentioned a 60', but is drag racing all you care about?
