Question Hump Passenger

After doing exhaust work and whatnot has anyone ever removed that nasty hump from the passenger side floorboard? Just wondering cause it really pisses me off.

I don't know anybody who has but I'll be honest.....the title of this thread is really what brought me in and my answer to that would be it depends on what she looks like!

from waht ive read the hump was only used on lt1 fbodies

I have heard of people getting rid of it. I heard one person talking about pounding it out but don't think that's a good idea at all. Probably would have taken less time & effort to just cut out that section and weld in new sheetmetal.
I'd love to get rid of that damn thing one day too.

The hump is for clearance of the cat IIRC, so its there on LS1 cars too which SUCKS for passengers...glad I dont ride there

The only downside I can see is you may run into problems with the seat bracket. I havent spent a lot of time looking, but I cant remember where the hump is in relation to that. If it goes further back, or the brackets reach the top of the hump you'd probably have to modify a bracket with some shims to sit even with the drivers side. Not "that" big of a deal, but still its one more kink in the cog.

I think he meant utilized the space underneath of it. I don't believe the LS1's need the extra space but G.M. used the same floor sections for our cars.

the carpet is molded to fit it. I was looking at cutting mine out but that would leave the heap of carpet..

You can get an OEM type carpet ordered.

There is a guy on LS1Tech that has made flawless patch panels. His username is 427. Pretty crafty guy if you ask me.

The picture posted above^^^ is a car being worked on by W2W >>. I don't think it's worth the time and money to remove the hump.

I never ride in the passenger seat so it doesn't bother me. My gf knows better than to complain, also.
