Default Vairation on hose mod?

Hi,

I am looking at doing the heater hose mod soon.

The sole purpose of the heater hose is to stop the metal to metal contact, right?
I wondered if using inner tube from a bike might work instead, as well as lowering it a little more?

I figure the inner tube is less than 1 mm thick, I could cut it lenght ways and double it up, and use cable ties to secure it.

Do you guys think it would work?
Does your hose show any signs of wear after a long period of time?

I am interested in your thoughts.

Paul.

A 5/8" hose is only 1/16" thick, and that's only something like 1.5mm or so isn't it? Your route will only change .5mm.

My money says you rip right though the thin rubber immediately.

get the strong hi-pressure hose and you'll be fine. Mines been in use for near 10k miles, no signs of wearing thru.

Thanks for all your replies and thoughts.

I guess your right, it was just a thought, just as well, as I have already bought the heater hose!

People use the heater hose for a reason. I've seen thinner material ripped right through. Your drop with the thinner material will be marginal in comparison and not worth it.

PS> Duck tape owns zip ties!

Yeah go with heater hose - much thicker and more durable. I just did heater hose mod yesterday (see my other thread in here) and I LOVE it!!
