Default Magnacharger Boost ??

The maggie is installed and just finishing up the tuning. The pulley on the maggie should be giving me about 7lbs of boost. On the guage, we're only seeing 5lbs max. I have the TR224 cam on a 112,TEA stage 1.5 heads and long tube headers. Could these be causing me to loose boost?

i'd say it's the cam. But boost isn't everything. In the sc w-body world they will put cams in and loose a few pounds of boost but they will pick up like 20+hp. you can pully up to get the boost back. Just be careful that the belt doesn't start slipping.

Yup....I have the same cam...it's a NA cam and you are losing boost because of it. I was told the same thing by the guys at Thunder Racing when I considered a Procharger.

More boost doesnt mean more power. It's just the measure of pressure in the manifold. If your head flows well or if your cam allows a longer intake stroke your boost levels will drop but your total output power will increase because your engine is running more efficiently.

I'd consider a cam with a 114 or 115LSA, there's a reason cams are considered blower cams or NA cams....I'm sure a search can lead you to lots of quality information on the subject.
