Hello, I am in the process of rebuilding a 2000 4L60E and have noticed a few oddly worn parts. First off, the low/reverse drum has some slight scratches/scoring from the belt. Is standard procedure to sand or replace? Also the the input drum (3/4 clutch housing) the outside aluminum teeth show slight wear as well. Replace or reuse?

If the reverse input drum has any irregularities on the band surface area replace it, As for the input drum I would need to see what your speaking of , That drum actually looks a bit rough even when new. Its not a real pretty peice.

If the input drum has wear on it from the reverse input frictions you might want to get a new one. I have seen in some cases ,not many, where the reverse apply is not working correctly due to the hub being worn. Also you should look inside the reverse input drum for wear from where the steels ride and also where the cushion plate rides. These do get worn out in time and I install a new drum in almost every unit that I build. Good luck with your build. Vince
