Default LS1 need help tuning timing

I have the gen III hot cam from GM and I just can't get my timing right. To be honest I don't know a methodology of doing so outside of trial and error. I have HP tuners. Does anyone know what to do on this one? Thank you in advance!

unless you have a true load dyno and have he capability to hit every cell and hold it there. Its hit or miss.

What is making you think that your timing is not 'right'.

Is the car surging?

Are you seeing KR?

Yes its surging on deceleration right around 1500 to 1000 rpms or if i am idling along around <10 mph. If i just tap the gas lightly around that area i will get surging and sometimes it will cut off.

To help out and since you have HPT you may want to post a log of when this is occuring. This way we can see if its a fuel or ign issue. Also post if it is throwing any SES codes.
