Default cam position sensor-startup only?

Does this do anything beyond telling the pcm which bank to fire when at startup? I'm thinking it might be involved in timing adjustments as well, though I suspect all that runs off the crank sensor

Default Re: cam position sensor-startup only?

Cam position sensor gets sync'd up with crank position sensor, this allows crank sensor to know which stroke position a piston is at.
It is also used by crank sensor when misfire occurs.
