Burst knock. I increased the intial duration of burst knock control in the pcm and it's all gone for the most part. I think the factory setting was 3 crankshaft rotations. I upped it to 60 or so, which is still a very short period of time. I also chopped the decay rate in half (was 25, now 12.5).

IDK about HPT....EFILive has it in the spark>knock section. Should be a single cell value to adjust for both.

Try adding .02 across the table of the stock numbers.
To get rid of it 8 across the table

Burst knock retard
enable delta cyl air

Is it necessary? I think its for gas saveing.

Its not necessary at all. I was having "ghost" KR problems as well when I put in my big engine, so I just got rid of it, and all is well.

Best Regards,

Ditto.

Had the same issue when I switched to a 383 with the supercharger. I just disabled it.

These tell when and how much to pull out. I'm talking about the settings that say how long to pull it out for and how fast to put it back in.

Wow....that sounded bad. I am talking about timing...I promise.

The Numbers right now is .02 across the Board. So do I need to add .02 to all?
Thanks

LOL that was Good...So I want to be looking at Knock Fast attack gain vs.ect and Recovery rate vs. rpm is what you mean?

Recovery rate sounds right. That should be set to something like .25 from the factory. I chopped it in half and will probably end up leaving it at .10 when I'm done. The other setting was a delay. This was one cell in my software that said....wait 'x' crankshaft revolutions before using the above decay rate. It shouldn't have anything to do with ECT.

My understanding is, Burst Knock tables exist because spark will arive faster than fuel. So when you mash the gas, you need to tell the spark to hold off a split second. If you increase the delta too much, you're effectively disabling Burst Knock Retard. I think it's a good thing to have. Too much and it'll make tip in feel like a slug though. But, just enough to keep the knock sensors happy is definitely ok. If you set the delay I'm talking about to somewhere in the range of 50~80 crank revolutions, it's less than a tenth of a second that the initial timing is pulled. Real knock retard doesn't recover as fast as burst knock. So, if it's knocking more often than not on tip in, the car will actually perform slightly slower off the punch more often than not when the knock sensors are tripped.

You do realize you're effectively telling him to disable Burst Knock Retard? That table tells the PCM, "Don't activate until the change in airflow is this big." If you keep making that delta bigger, BKR won't do anything during transitions. If that's the goal, it's easier to just zero out the Burst Knock Retard table.
