Gears & Axles - Anyone Running 4.30 gears

I was wondering at what RPM and trap speed everyone was running at the end of the quarter with 4.30 gears. I ask because I'm considering getting 4.30 gears, but I don't know if I'll be able to finish without going into fifth. I think I'll have a trap speed around 128-130 mph and my rev limiter is set at 6900.

I'm running 4.30's but cant really answer your question. Here in po-dunk Arkansas we dont have 1/4 tracks. They decided to stop at 1000' for some reason. But i will tell you this. With street tires (17") I hit my 6600 limiter about 118 or so in 4th. With my ET Street's i know its higher but i dont know how much. I trap about 110mph in the 1000' so it don't matter to me. I HEAR (never tried it) that with a 26" tire you can run 1/4 without a problem as long as your not make serious HP. Like 500RWHP. Sorry i couldnt help more. Try this. I'm running 4.30's but not a good comparison as I am still running stock engine. With a low 6100 red-line, on engine alone, no problem finish the 1/4 at about 5800. But on a 75 shot, I end up shifting into 5th. Bigger tires? Possible, but I will be going with heads and cam soon.

I did some calcs...and with 4.30s you'll need a 27" tire minimum to reach 130 mph traps assuming a 7K redline
