...I went and test drove a new Mustang GT today and I actually liked it. If it weren't for the fact that it was so slow and wasn't the color I would want I might have bought it. :emb:

My LT1 with just a cold air intake is already making the same power as a brand new GT. Ford is still playing ketchup.

Honestly.. I don't get what's wrong with them?

Other then you see 4000000 a block. I've driven one, it's not as fast as my car but it's still quite nice. Bang for buck if you want a new sports car cheap it's the stang.

Honestly I liked it better then a charger I drove. It's a cool car and I want to see how this new 3 valve motor will turn out, as most all of us know and agree the 2 vavle sohc wasn't anything to write home about, well even admit to owning lol!

It's a cool car, then again I like most any car that doesn't suck.

I told the salesman if it had an LS2 and a T-56 I'd take two of them... :jest:

I was impressed, I've never driven a mustang that I liked... the 03/04 cobra's were terrible... if it weren't for the motor they would have NO appeal... this car was the opposite... it drove awsome, they fixed the seat/pedals/shifter position I hated from the old cars... only problem is the motor and the blue oval :jest:

I still stand behind it that you should be on the look out for a new GTO...

If it helps your decision at all, there were a couple of them at NED Saturday which I imagine you saw. One or two of them running in the mid 14's which is really slow. I smoked my clutch hardcore as seen in my other thread (video included if interested) and still I ran a 14.4 @110.. LoL

Go for the GTO Tim.. you'll love it. There are a bunch left or so I am told around this area M6 and most colors. Or as Brad mentioned another ZO6 '03-04!

What's up with the Z28? Just another F-body and losing interest?

A few of the Pontiac dealers around here still have one or two kicking around...saw one today with "SAVE $5000" written on the windshield...food for thought...

A GTO is still a possibility... I don't know, none of these cars are exciting me anymore. I remember when I saw the my first LS1 WS6... I HAD to have one. Nothing is grabbing my attention like that. Well except for maybe a new Z06... But I'm not ready to drop that kind of $$$.

I hear that. I was contemplating a 2005 Corvette instead of my GTO, but for the price difference and the GTO being more rare I made up my mind. Plus with the two rear seats just incase.. I was sold! I wouldn't look back. If I were to build a car just for drag racing, personally I would have a Trans Am. If it were weekend for driving and some racing a Newer Vette or another GTO hands down. Beyond muscle cars or sports cars.. I'd be in a CTS-V, M3, older M5 or a mid range AMG Mercedes... but I am saving those cars for later in life! Used GTO's pop up on www.LS1GTO.com all the time, check it out if you decide that's the route you may want to persue! You could probably get one with some mods and low mileage for a decent price and not have to deal with depreciation value.... :eek2:

The $5000 off car was at Orr in Springfield, it's red, there is also a red one with black stripes at Bob Pion in Chicopee, I don't know if these cars are auto or stick.

I checked... both are automatics. There are only a couple 6-speeds left... three of them in Bristol, CT at Stephen Pontiac/Cadillac and one at Profile Pontiac in Conway, NH... I might go take a look at one tonight or tomorrow.

Tim, theres a 06 GTO for sale in this section!!

Did you lose interest with the Camaro you bought, why not just sink $10,000 into it and make it a sick street car, or sell it and get another WS6.

The new GT's are actually very nice.. the interiors of the California Special (ebony/dove) are cool. The aftermarket is big on these, and 300hp ain't chopper liver.

If you want more bang for the buck, then throw on a blower and Kooks and you will go deep into the 12's, high 11's with one weekends work.

It's all opinoin of course, but there is no way the new GTs are nicer looking then 4th gen f bodies. GTOs maybe. Z28s you might argue, but 4th gen Firebirds are some of the nicest looking cars ever built. And, yes, I am biased.

I agree the new Mustang is a lot better looking than the GTO's... BUT It doesn't come close to the '98-02 WS6's in my eyes. (Or even the regular trans-ams and the super sports.) I'll admit it is better looking than the basic Z-28's though imo.

IMO, the best styling to ever come out of Detroit was the pony car ('69 Camaro, '67 - '71 Mustang, '70 - '72 'Cuda/Challenger). You gotta have that flat rear deck, short trunk, long hood, large open mouth grile, etc. Although my TA is pretty cool, I still dig the Mustang style more because it incorporates all the early pony character. It looks like the new Camaro and Challenger will do the same thing too!
