Default loud thump when i shift!!!

ok i just installed a new shifter and its great...but the problem now is when I shift real hard I hear a couple of thumps that sound rather violent under my right elbow. What could this be...does it hurt anything...and how can i prevent it...or is it the driver causeing it? thanks guys

If you have the stock trans mount, thats the problem. Try running a solid poly mount.

I have a similar problem, I am dealing with it untill the tranny comes out next time.

Does it do it only in higher RPM's or all the time.

I cant remember right off hand how much they are, but not much. And you can do it yourself. All you have to do is take off your tranny crossmember, and unbolt the old one, and reinstall new one in place.

I got mine from autozone, I think with shipping it came to $30. I had to order it from their web site because no one around here had it in stock. I haven't installed it yet. I plan on doing it soon.

All I can say is I used the stock mount for 80k and over 1,200 passes in an m6 with a tire and had no issues til 80k. The poly mounts really telegraph vibration to the steering wheel and pedals. IMO, if your stocker is not torn leave it alone.
