Default Egr?

maybe i just misunderstood but on installuniversity. They remove the hose from your egr valve to your exhaust manifolds. Is it going to hurt anything if i remove the EGR valve itself or the hose that goes to the intake manifold and plug that also? sorry guys i'm confused as to why you can't remover those 2 pieces i thought you could

Sounds like you are mixing up the EGR and AIR removal process. The EGR is only attached to the passenger side exhaust manifold, not both. The AIR system is attached to both manifolds. If you remove either you have to plug the leftover holes. Read the stickies at the top of this forum for how-to's. Here's a few pics from the stickies.

its not going to hurt anything, youll just throw some meaningless codes...just make sure you plug up the holes good, or youll get that ticking

Yeah remove the valve. It's not doing any good if it's disconnected. It'll clean up the engine compartment some.

Will just removing the EGR and AIR make the car run differently before getting a tune? I already have the "Service engine light" on from my cats being hollowed out. I plan on getting a tune in about a month. I just wanted to make sure thecar is going to run fine until then.

Also, do I need to order the block-off plates or do you creative guys have an alternative method?

Nope, on my first LS1 I removed the egr/air and drove without it tuned for well over a year, and on my current LS1 I've been going with them removed for about 7 or 8 months now and no tune.
