Any negatives for porting throttle body?
Hi,
I am planning to port my throttle body this week.
I have read lots of positives for doing this, but are there any negatives, ie gas mileage, noise etc...?
Thanks,
Paul.

I haven't noticed any negatives since I had mine done as far as I'm concerned. I had the "mods" done with my porting (bump stop etc). Gas mileage seems better if anything. It's cheaper than a lid, and I noticed a ton more benefit from it. It's the single best benefit per $ spent that I've done so far.
The only thing different I noticed after porting would be that if you rev the motor a little with the hood up, it makes a slight whistling sound (kinda like a supercharger). It's nothing you hear while driving tho.
Even by some miracle you didn't like it, you can usually pick up a used TB without sensors for like $40 and go back to stock.

Nothing negative at all. Except maybe that the pedal will feel heavier It's nice to have the throttle open all the way (90*0. Make sure you do the bump stop mod too. There are many porters (Bo White, Mark Shaner, New Era Performance, etc.) if you run into problems.
