does the oil pressure switch have to be hooked up for the DOD to work properly?

I am pretty sure it does. The whole DOD (Displacement on Demand) system runs off of oil and oil pressure. If I remember right, the ECM needs any oil sensors connected. Oil pressure I know, but there may be an oil level sensor also.
