Default Painting or Polishing my BMR STB?

I got a BMR STB a little while ago, and it was supposed to be Navy Blue to match the rest of my under-hood accents. Well, it got here and it was a purplish blue :

So my question is, is it possible to sand off the old paint and polish it? Or do I have to paint over it? Thanks guys.

Nate

I am polishing mine, I have the same purple strut tower brace. I am wet sanding it with 200 grit, then 600 grit and hitting it with the polisher. You'll definately have to hit it with a polishing wheel, or DA. I don't think it will get the shine I am looking for though, I polished my GMMG and it looks like a mirror but its Stainless. I'll post pics when I get to finishing it.

I bought my BMR STB used and it was red powdercoat. I decided red wouldn't look the greatest on my NBM car, so I painted it.
I sanded off the majority of the powdercoat, then painted it silver using high-heat primer, paint and clearcoat.

I wouldnt think you could polish it real well since its steel (and would rust).. chroming it shouldnt be too expensive.. I did my Hotchkis bar for $75 and its far more difficult!

I've painted mine a couple times. You just need to sand it with some 400 grit paper and apply a light coat of primer. You can get the NBM paint made by Duplicolor at either NAPA or Wal-Mart I recently did someone's calipers in that color and it's an exact match....should be anyway since they make the paint for GM

Any good shop that does automotive chrome should be able to do it.. I paid $75 to have my Hotchkis bar chromed and its MUCH harder to do than the BMR.. you will want to find a local shop. Try the yellow pages or hit a car show and ask some the car guys (with good chrome work) where they went.. you cant beat referrals
