Default A/C compressor bad?

This has been a problem since i bought the car, If i have the climate control set to OFF it makes a noise, a noise like a bearing or a disc rubbing together if that makes any sense. But if I turn on the a/c or the defroster on it like shifts or something and the sound goes away. Sometimes while in off position it doesn't do it. My question is it the compressor? is there away to fix this or do i just need to buy a new a/c compressor. Thanks

may be the clutch on the front of the compressor. if thats all it is u can just replace that and not the whole compressor

yes, they should know what the a/c clutch is and if you're thinking of doing it yourself, you're going to need a clutch remover/installer. depending on the parts shop they may have them there to rent or borrow though. instructions should come with them though.

Alright, However I think my problem is escalating on my way home the blower motor started to make a whining noise that steadily got louder then stayed at a consistent noise. its not super loud or anything but it definitely is different then it was yesterday. I did nothing to the car except open my air box to look at my filter. Any idea what could be going on with that.
