Default LS6 into Fbody

How hard is this swap? Ive found a longblock ls6 and have a spun rod bearing on my ls1. Does everything just bolt up?? Does anyone have a intake fuel injecttors and a maf for sale for the ls6? possibly an ECU as well? What minor issues while i run into? Will my fuel pump be adequate? THANKS!!

its the almost the same motor. you dont have to change anything for it to bolt in and dont need a new pcm just a tune.

Unless the LS6 is dirt cheap, why not rebuild your LS1 with forged internals instead?

id like to do a mild rebuild on my motor, I spun a rod bearing. I found a ls6 longblock for 3000. I cannot find anyone who will rebuild my new motor with a mild cam and stock parts for that price. If anyone knows, please fill me in, im in Memphis TN.

Reusing your block and crank, do the work yourself. The only work you'd have to have someone else do is the machine work. Rods, pistons, rings, bearings, bolts, gaskets will all be around only $1500, and that's forged pistons and stronger rods and bolts. There's the short block taken care of. Add on a ported/shimmed LS6 oil pump, LS2 timing chain, pushrods, etc, you'll have another rough approximation of about $800 or so. That leaves $700 for machine work, which should only be half of that. Ta-da!

Its pretty much a direct swap. But for that about that much you can get something from one of the sponsors.

the machine work you just said adds up to 3000 and still uses 84k heads and yuo forgot the new lifters pushrods cam and valvesprings. or 3k for an assembled 405hp ls6. if i could do an actual complete rebuild for 3k id be interested, anyone done this?

I'm not talking about the full engine. That'd be dumb. I'm talking a rebuilt shortblock, reusing the old parts you can since there's NO reason to replace good parts. Then you have a stronger engine instead of another LS1/LS6. Duh. You couldn't follow? Or you think the "LS6" name is that important? Because I'm sure 99% of the people would rather have a forged shortblock instead of another engine with hypereutectic pistons.

i dont need forged anything, this is DD, I only want 375-400 hp. Im getting quotes of 3k to rebuilt with my crank rods and pistons due to incredible labor costs, ive made a post asking for a good machine shop a round here, the onyl reason i like ls6 idea is its only 100 dollars more than the ls1 replacement motor, so seems like a cheap upgrade. if you can reccomend an engine builder with a good price near memphis tn id love to call em up. Ive had a ls1 car for 7 years so im not exactly a noob, just not into all this forged motor nitrous head cam crap, just want a fun 400hp and good street manners and mileage

if you guys know any specific shortblocks plz point me in the right direction, id be happy with a stock rebuild with upgraded cam/valvetrain, just cant seem to find it for as cheap as this ls6, plus the ls6 has the better heads obviously
