Default Burning Smell

Hey guys,
I took my car on a road trip last week during the fourth of july. At one point my friend (behind me) was being ran off the road by some idiot who thought it'd be cool to retalliate (sp?) after my friend came close to him. I had to scare this dude away from my friend, so I slammed my brakes and jerked at him, then ripped it up to 110 to get away from him (he backed off haha). Anyway, it seems like after doing this i have smelled a faint rubber/plastic burning smell. I am afraid I messed up something in the trans or the rear because I do not see anything out of place when I peak under the car or the hood. Does anybody know what this could be? I don't think its brakes because they don't smoke and the wheels don't get too hot. Any help is greatly appreciated.

could be a leaky pinion seal. mine is leaking like crazy so my car always smells like burning gear oil since it slings on the exhaust.

Yea i did notice that there was a little gear oil near the pinion seal on the exhaust pipe. This car leaked on the pinion seal since I bought it (the mechanic told me when I had it checked out prior to purchase). It does not seem like it has done it before, but maybe the road trip loosened it up and it slings now??

it's about an hour job, book time calls for 1.3hours. it's really not too bad to change out if you've got the tools to do it.
