They will get the money from us, when we pay for the inspection.

They have to build them and staff them before they can start generating revenue. I guess we can just raise taxes. I cant beleive we fell for this guy telling us he is a Republican.

In my home state, private shops get a certification from the state that allows them to do the inspections. They in turn get to keep a small slice of the take. Of course, the shops also have to pay to become certified. If Florida takes the same route, they will have money coming in long before the first inspection ever takes place. Make no mistake, this will end up generating huge sums of money for the state.

Under the California emissions standards, automakers that sell cars in Florida beginning with the 2009 model year would have to reduce greenhouse gas pollutants, such as carbon dioxide, by 25 percent for cars and 18 percent for sport utility vehicles.
looks like it only affects 2009 new car sales.

even the EPA doesn't like it:

At least 12 other states have adopted California's standards, including New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Automakers are challenging the standards in court and, for two years, the federal Environmental Protection Agency has refused to allow the new law to take effect.

Robert, what concerns most people is what comes with the CA emissions. Maybe you could become a certified inspection station. Lets hope the EPA can stop him.
